Who we are
Engineering Clarity. Built on Expertise.
STARMAN is a UK-based electrical design and energy consultancy. We work with homeowners, architects, contractors, and developers to deliver precise, well-coordinated design packages — from first principles to installation-ready documentation.
Our story
Founded on a belief that good design makes everything easier.
STARMAN was founded with a straightforward conviction: that clear, well-considered electrical design saves time, reduces cost, and produces better buildings. Too often, electrical design is treated as an afterthought — squeezed into a project late, under-resourced, and disconnected from the wider design team.
We set out to change that. By bringing rigorous engineering thinking to every project — however large or small — we help our clients avoid the costly surprises that come from poor coordination, incomplete documentation, and designs that don't hold up on site.
Today, STARMAN works across residential, retrofit, and small commercial sectors, delivering everything from architectural lighting schemes and LV distribution packages to full building electrical design and low-carbon technology integration.
Rigour
Thorough calculations. Coordinated drawings. We don't cut corners on the technical work that underpins a well-designed installation.
Clarity
We communicate in plain language — with clients, contractors, and building control. No unnecessary jargon, no ambiguity in our documentation.
Collaboration
Good design is a team effort. We work closely with architects, interior designers, and contractors to produce coordinated packages that work for everyone.
Sustainability
We integrate low-carbon technologies — EV charging, Solar PV, heat-pump electrical design — as a core part of the design package, not an afterthought.
Our approach
Technical thinking. Practical outcomes.
We believe the best engineering is invisible — when the design is right, the installation goes smoothly, the building performs as intended, and nobody has to revisit the drawings. That's what we aim for on every project: documentation that is complete, coordinated, and clear enough that the people building from it never have to guess.
We engage early — at RIBA Stage 2 or equivalent — to ensure electrical design is coordinated from the outset, not retrofitted around decisions already made.
We produce installation-ready packages, not outline designs. Drawings, schedules, and calculations are issued to a standard that an installer can build from without interpretation.
We stay involved through construction, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and supporting building control submissions — so the design intent is maintained on site.
Credentials & standards
Standards we design with reference to.
All STARMAN design packages are produced with reference to current British Standards, industry regulations, and good engineering practice.

Lightning protection system design for residential, commercial, and heritage structures.
PAS 2035
Whole-house retrofit standard — coordinating energy improvements to achieve measurable performance outcomes.
CIBSE Guidance
Lighting design and building services engineering in line with CIBSE codes of practice.
MCS Standards
Solar PV and heat pump system design produced with reference to Microgeneration Certification Scheme requirements.
G99 / G100
Grid connection documentation for Solar PV and battery storage systems up to 1MW.
